Privacy Policy

vibEats is built so that there is almost nothing to write in a privacy policy. There is no vibEats account, no vibEats server, and no vibEats analytics. Everything you do in the app is stored on your own device and stays there.
This policy describes the app as it actually behaves. If a future version changes any of it, this policy will be updated before that version ships.
The short version
- We do not collect your data. Nothing you create in vibEats is transmitted to us.
- There is no account and no login. We never learn who you are.
- Your location never leaves your device. It is used on-device to find nearby places and calculate distances.
- There is no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no third-party tracking of any kind.
- Your ratings, reviews, photos, collections and preferences are stored locally and are deleted when you delete them or delete the app.
This matches the App Store privacy label for vibEats, which declares Data Not Collected.
Information vibEats stores on your device
The app creates and stores the following locally, on your iPhone or iPad, using Apple's on-device database (SwiftData):
- Places you save, and any collections you create
- biteMeter ratings, aspect scores, reactions, and any review text you write
- Photos you take or choose while rating a place
- Recent searches and recently viewed places
- Non-sensitive personalization signals — for example, that you often pick coffee, or usually choose a shorter distance — used to reorder suggestions
- App preferences such as haptics, launch sound, and theme
- Whether you have completed onboarding
A small summary of your rating statistics is also written to a shared app group container so the vibEats home-screen and lock-screen widget can display it. That container is on your device and is readable only by vibEats and its widget.
None of this is sent to us. We have no way to read it.
Location
vibEats requests When In Use location only. It never requests background location, and it never tracks you when the app is closed.
Location is used on your device to:
- find food and drink places near you through Apple Maps
- calculate accurate distances to those places
- display the name of your current area
Your coordinates are passed to Apple's MapKit and Core Location frameworks on your device to perform the search. They are not sent to vibEats, because vibEats has no server to send them to.
You may decline location entirely and still use the app — search a city or neighbourhood manually instead. You can change or revoke permission at any time in iOS Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Location Services.
Photos and camera
If you choose to add a photo to a rating, vibEats asks for camera access or access to the photo you pick. Photos are saved to the app's own local storage on your device.
Location metadata is stripped from photos before they are stored.
Photos are never uploaded anywhere. If you tap Save Image to write a share card to your photo library, vibEats requests add-only Photos access, which allows it to add an image but not to read your library.
Sharing
Sharing is always something you initiate. When you share a place, a rating, or a share card, iOS hands the content you selected to whichever app you choose — Messages, Instagram, Facebook, Mail, or another.
From that moment the content is governed by that app's privacy policy, not this one. vibEats never posts anything on your behalf and never shares in the background.
Purchases
vibEats Premium is an optional one-time purchase. It is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit.
- We never see your name, payment method, card details, or billing address.
- The app only asks Apple a single question — whether this Apple ID owns the Premium unlock — and receives yes or no.
- Purchase history, receipts, and refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy.
Analytics and advertising
vibEats contains no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting SDK, no advertising SDK, and no attribution or tracking SDK. No third-party code of any kind is bundled into the app.
We do not build profiles, we do not use the Advertising Identifier, and we never present App Tracking Transparency prompts, because there is nothing to track.
Apple provides developers with aggregate, anonymised App Store statistics — download counts, territory totals, crash counts. These come from Apple, are never linked to an individual, and are not something vibEats collects or controls. They are described in Apple's own privacy documentation.
Third-party technologies
vibEats uses these Apple frameworks, all running on your device:

Place information — names, addresses, categories, phone numbers, websites — is provided by Apple Maps. vibEats never fabricates ratings, reviews, photos, prices, or opening hours it does not have.
Where the app offers a reservation link, tapping it opens OpenTable in your browser. What happens there is governed by OpenTable's own privacy policy.
The AI Food Concierge runs through Apple's on-device Foundation Models where available. No prompt or result is sent off the device. Where the device does not support it, the app falls back to a deterministic on-device parser and says so rather than claiming AI.
Your controls
Everything is under your control, in Settings inside the app:
- Clear recent searches
- Clear recently viewed
- Clear personalization data
- Delete all local data — removes saved places, collections, ratings, photos, searches and preferences in one action
You can also revoke location, camera, or Photos permission at any time in iOS Settings. Deleting the app removes all of its local data from your device.
Because we hold no copy of your data, we cannot delete it for you, export it for you, or restore it if you delete it. There is nothing on our side to request.
Children
vibEats is rated 4+ and contains no objectionable content, no user-generated content visible to others, no messaging, no public profiles, and no advertising.
vibEats does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. Because no data is collected from any user, there is no children's data for us to hold, share, or sell.
Your rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA
These laws give you rights over personal data a company holds about you — access, correction, deletion, portability, and the right to opt out of sale or sharing.
vibEats does not collect, receive, store, sell, or share any personal data, so we hold no personal data about you to which these rights could attach. We have never sold or shared personal information, and we do not use personal information for targeted advertising or profiling.

Changes to this policy
If a future version of vibEats introduces anything that collects data — an account, cloud sync, or backup — this policy will be updated before that version ships, the App Store privacy label will be updated to match, and the app will ask for your consent in context.
The "last updated" date at the top of this policy always reflects the current version.
