Privacy Policy
Effective 1 January 2026
The short version: Weather Genie has no account, no advertising identifier and no analytics. Nothing you do in the app is sent anywhere except the coordinates needed to fetch a forecast.
What the app can access
With your permission, and only if you grant it:
- Your device location
Stored on your device, and never transmitted:
- Saved locations
- Notification preferences
- App settings, including your humour choices
- Cached forecasts, so the app still shows something offline
How location is used
Location is used for one thing: retrieving the forecast, radar and alerts for where you are. Coordinates are sent to the weather providers listed below and are not stored by Weather Genie beyond the current session. Access is requested only while you are using the app, never in the background.
Location is optional. If you decline, you can search for and save any city, airport, landmark or postal code, and every feature works identically.
Nimbus AI insights
Nimbus AI insights are generated on your device from the forecast the app has already downloaded. No forecast, location or personal information is sent to any AI service, and there is no AI provider involved at all.
Purchases
Weather Genie is free for 30 days, after which a single one-time purchase unlocks it permanently. The purchase is handled entirely by Apple. Weather Genie never sees or stores your payment details, card number, billing address or Apple Account credentials, and there is no server belonging to Weather Genie involved in the transaction.
The date your complimentary period began is stored in your device's keychain so that reinstalling the app continues the same period rather than starting a new one. It is a single date, it stays on your device, and it is not linked to you.
What the app does not do
- It does not sell or share personal information.
- It does not build an advertising or behavioural profile.
- It does not use an advertising identifier or any analytics SDK.
- It does not require, or offer, an account.
- It contains no adverts and no subscription.
Third-party services
Fetching weather means contacting a weather service. Weather Genie uses:
- Open-Meteo — forecasts and current conditions
- RainViewer — radar imagery
- NOAA / National Weather Service — official alerts in the United States
- Apple MapKit — the base map and place search
These receive a location in order to answer, and each operates under its own privacy policy. None receives an identifier for you or your device from Weather Genie.
Data security
All network requests use HTTPS. Because there is no account and no server owned by Weather Genie, there is no stored copy of your data to be breached — deleting the app removes everything it kept, apart from the complimentary-period date described above.
Children
Weather Genie is not directed toward children under 13, and collects no personal information from anyone.
Changes
This policy may be updated. Material changes will be reflected in the effective date above.
