Stuck, confused, or found something broken? Write to me — there's no ticket system and no bot.
Reporting a problem? It helps enormously if you include your iPhone or iPad model,
your iOS version, the version of MoneyCue from Settings → About, and what you were doing
when it happened. Please don't send screenshots containing real balances — a description is plenty.
No. There's nothing to sign up for and nothing to sign in to. MoneyCue has no server — your records live on your device and nowhere else.
Free for 30 days with everything unlocked. After that the budgeting core stays free forever — transactions, budgets, bills, the calendar, savings goals, Safe to Spend, search and the monthly review never expire. A single payment of $14.99 (your local equivalent) unlocks Voice Spend Entry, unlimited Ask MoneyCue, advanced insights, monthly summaries, long-range trends and CSV export. There is no subscription.
Open the unlock screen (Settings → the unlock row at the top) and tap
Restore a previous purchase. As long as you're signed in to the same Apple Account, it will
come straight back at no charge.
Note that a restored purchase does not restore your data — see the next question.
Because nothing is stored on a server, an encrypted iPhone backup (iCloud or Finder) is what carries your records across — restore the new device from that backup and MoneyCue comes with it.
Moving without a full device restore: use Settings → Back everything up (JSON) on the old
device and keep the file somewhere safe.
Voice Spend Entry needs both Microphone and Speech Recognition permission, and it's part of the paid
unlock. If you granted permission and it still won't listen, check
iOS Settings → MoneyCue and make sure both switches are on. Typing does everything voice does,
if you'd rather not.
Not at all. Apple Intelligence needs a supported device with it switched on in iOS Settings, and it isn't available everywhere yet. Ask MoneyCue falls back to a built-in engine that answers the common questions from the same records, and every other part of MoneyCue — budgets, bills, Safe to Spend, goals, reports — never used AI in the first place.
Tap What this is based on underneath the answer to see which of your records it used. That usually explains it — most often a transaction filed under an unexpected category, or a bill that hasn't been marked paid. If the figure genuinely doesn't add up, please email me the question you asked and what you expected; that's exactly the kind of report that gets fixed quickly.
Tap See how this is worked out for the full breakdown. The usual causes are a bill that's already
been paid but not marked paid, or money set aside for savings goals. You can stop goals being subtracted
in Settings → Set goal money aside.
Yes. Set Month start day in Settings to any day from 1 to 28 and every budget, total and monthly recap follows it.
Settings → Clear all financial data removes your records but keeps your preferences.
Start completely over resets the app to how it was on day one. Deleting the app from your device
removes everything too, since nothing is stored anywhere else. None of these can be undone, so export a
backup first if there's any doubt.
On the Add or Edit screen, tap the paperclip. Photograph the receipt or pick one from your library, and MoneyCue reads it to fill in the amount, the shop and the date — only into fields you've left empty, and it tells you what it filled with an Undo if it got it wrong. You can attach several photos to one transaction and delete any of them.
Reading happens on your device. Receipt photos are stored with your transaction and go when it goes, but they are not part of the CSV or JSON export — they'd make the file enormous. They are included in your iPhone backup.
No to all three, and bank syncing isn't planned — it would mean sending your financial data to a third-party aggregator, which is the opposite of how MoneyCue is built.
Genuinely welcome. If something about your money doesn't fit how MoneyCue works, that's useful to know — tell me what you were trying to do rather than what button you'd like, and I'll see whether it fits.
