MoneyCue

Privacy Policy

The short version: MoneyCue collects nothing about you, has no server to send anything to, and keeps your financial records on your own device.

Last updated 8 August 2026

1. Who this covers

This policy covers the MoneyCue app for iPhone and iPad, and this website. MoneyCue is made by an independent developer, contactable at amustafa2020@gmail.com.

2. What we collect

Nothing. MoneyCue has no user accounts, no analytics, no crash-reporting service, no advertising identifiers and no third-party SDKs of any kind. There is no server to receive data, so no personal information, financial information or usage information is transmitted to us or to anyone else.

We cannot see your balances, your transactions, your questions to MoneyCue, or whether you use the app at all.

3. What the app stores, and where

Everything you enter — transactions, budgets, bills, accounts, savings goals, notes and preferences — is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework, inside the app's private storage. It is protected by your device passcode and iOS file encryption, and optionally by Face ID or Touch ID if you turn on the app lock.

Receipt photos. If you photograph a receipt or pick one from your library, the image is stored on your device alongside your other records and attached to that transaction. It is re-encoded on the way in, which shrinks it and removes the metadata a photo normally carries — including the location where it was taken. Deleting the transaction deletes its photos with it, and you can delete any individual photo at any time. Receipt images are never included in the CSV or JSON export, because they would make the file enormous; they travel in your device backup instead.

If you have iCloud Backup or encrypted local backups switched on, your device backup will include MoneyCue Money's data, as it does for other apps. Those backups are governed by Apple's privacy policy, not this one. We have no access to them.

4. Network activity

The app makes no network requests of its own. The only network traffic it causes is:

Notifications are scheduled locally on your device. There is no push server, so no notification passes through us.

5. Apple Intelligence and Ask MoneyCue

On supported devices, MoneyCue uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models to interpret what you ask and to phrase the reply. This processing happens on your device.

The model is only given the specific figures needed for the question in front of it — never your whole financial history. Every number is calculated by the app from your records; the model chooses which calculation to run and puts the result into a sentence. It is never the source of a figure.

If Apple Intelligence is unavailable, not enabled, or you turn it off in MoneyCue's settings, the app answers from a built-in engine instead. No third-party AI service is used, and there are no external AI API keys in the app.

6. Camera, photos and reading receipts

The camera is used only when you tap to photograph a receipt. MoneyCue does not ask for access to your photo library at all: choosing an existing photo goes through Apple's own picker, which hands over the one image you select and shows the app nothing else.

When you attach a receipt, MoneyCue reads the text on it to offer to fill in the amount, the shop and the date. That happens entirely on your device using Apple's Vision framework. The photo is not uploaded anywhere, and what it reads is only ever put into fields you have left empty — it never overwrites something you typed, and it tells you what it filled in.

7. Microphone and speech recognition

The microphone is used only when you tap it, for Voice Spend Entry or to ask MoneyCue a question out loud. Permission is requested at that moment, never at launch, and the app is fully usable by typing if you decline. Audio is not recorded to a file, and nothing is stored after the words have been transcribed.

Please read this part. MoneyCue asks iOS for on-device speech recognition whenever your device supports it, which keeps the audio on the phone. On devices or in languages where on-device recognition is not available, iOS may send the audio to Apple's speech recognition service to transcribe it — this is Apple's system service, governed by Apple's privacy policy.

If that matters to you, type instead of speaking, or turn off Speech Recognition for MoneyCue in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security. Everything voice does, typing does too.

8. Permissions the app may ask for

All are off until you turn them on, and declining any of them leaves the rest of the app working normally.

9. Sharing and selling

We do not sell, rent, share or disclose your information, because we do not have it. No data is shared with advertisers, data brokers, analytics providers or anyone else.

10. Your control over your data

Because your data never reaches us, there is nothing for us to delete on request — deleting it on your device is complete. Rights under GDPR, UK GDPR and CCPA (access, correction, deletion, portability, and the right not to have data sold) are satisfied directly by these controls; there is no profile held anywhere for us to act on.

11. Children

MoneyCue is not directed at children under 13 and collects no information from anyone, including children.

12. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top. If a future version of the app ever collects anything at all, that change will be described here clearly and in advance, not buried.
